Guanaco Argentino Shawl | Knitting pattern and Optional Kit

TheĀ Guanaco yarn collection is finally here, and Louise Robert has created the perfect design to celebrate it! This Guanaco Argentino Shawl is the ideal way to introduce yourself to this luxurious yarn, as it's a small project that mixes two different colors.

I am happy to introduce this new shawl crafted from a luxurious blend of Argentine merino wool and the precious fibers of the guanaco, a rare and protected camelid. The inspiration for this design comes from the beautiful tradition of live-shearing guanacos, an Andean technique for herding guanacos and collecting their soft and warm wool in the wild. The shawl's crescent shape reflects the herding process's flowing movement, where individuals come together to form a circle around the guanacos, creating a sense of unity and collaboration as they gather the wool. As you create this piece, let it remind you of the rich cultural heritage and sustainable practices woven into the fibers we cherish. May your knitting journey be filled with inspiration, connection, and the spirit of tradition. - Louise Robert

You have the option to purchase the pattern only or the knitting kit, which contains both the yarn and the pattern needed to knit this project!

When using the contrasting color, you will encounter the instruction to ā€œdrop and knit the 5th stitch below.ā€ To do this, drop the stitch from the left-hand needle and unravel it for the last four rows. Then, knit the corresponding stitch from five rows below. The stitch pattern is divided into six sections and is available as chart form and written instructions. The first three sections will work according to the right side of the chart, while the last three sections will use the left side. Additionally, there is a three-stitch garter stitch edge worked on both sides of the shawl.
